Despite the 2 ½ hour drive, we have returned several times for an “island getaway” in the heart of South Florida. There is no smoking in the casino which is a big plus. As in Lucaya, we found the staff to be friendly and helpful and the facilities well planned and immaculate. Having visited and enjoyed another Isles casino at Our Lucaya in the Bahamas, my husband and I first visited the Isle at Pompano in September of 2007. The two story casino floors dominated by a central water feature with clever columns some of which have water flowing overhead through clear arches, contain the slots on the first level and the poker and race track on the second which is easily accessible by either elevator or escalator. In addition, there is a 34 table poker room and pari-mutuel harness racing track along with four restaurants and a central high tech multi-level bar called Fling which features state of the art multimedia displays as well as live entertainment. Opened in April of 2007, it is conveniently located between the Florida Turnpike and I-95, the Isle features a large variety of 1,500 Vegas style slot machines from two cent machines on up. Win or lose, the tropically themed Isle Casino & Racing at Pompano Park is an excitement filled South Florida destination for adults.
